Re: What happened to Linux version ?

I noticed that all links on members.maiagame.com are dead, but the site itself seems to still work. There are even links for the version 0.60 .

Is members.maiagame.com still oficially supported, or abandoned in favor of steam ?

Re: Maia store open!

For anyone who might want to buy, be aware the newest Linux version is 0.53 but 0.57 on Windows.

What happened to Linux version ?

Hi, I was in a mood for testing Maia and logged in on:
http://members.maiagame.com/downloads

But it turns out the latest Linux version is 0.53. What's up with that ? OS is listed as Linux 64, Windows and OSX Mavericks.

Interface is unclear (0.48)

Yesterday I downloaded Maia 0.48 from the main site, and tried it for the first time. The interface really gets on my nerves. It's unclear and does a bad job communicating information: - when building a room, and holding down the mouse button, it doesn't display its dimension. Tutorial says build a ...

Re: Playing Maia

The game process is hard to kill on Linux. I discovered this because often the game produces visual glitches when you switch fullscreen ON/OFF. * CTRL-C in the terminal where you launched Maia doesn't work. * Right click on the taskbar and "close" doesn't work. This is in KDE 4 on Debian Linux. * ki...

Re: Dat AI...

I played the tutorial yesterday. I had a colonist die of starvation. I thought I neglected food production (I haven't played Maia before), but no, food storage was something like 150.../200... kcal, and I built hydroponics early anyway.

Re: The Biology of B-Movie Monsters

It seems the article was in turn inspired by this article:

On Being the Right Size - J. B. S. Haldane 1928
https://www.marxists.org/archive/haldan ... t-size.htm

It is very insightful. A more serious article overall.

Re: Rooms, doors and other things. :)

Nice.

Dungeon design nitpick: it's probably not a great idea to make the shortest route pass through the workshop. People working there wouldn't enjoy the distractions. The corridor goes around already, I'd remove the front-facing door.

Re: Bulkhead Doors (Warning: 6mb GIF)

We'd get dramatic hurdling or high jump moments instead! But floor is always on the same level. You'd have to make an animation which can work if the door is 50cm high, 100 cm high, etc. Probably not going to happen. The door looks functional, but a bit plain. I think it needs either some extra geo...

Re: Frames per second

As such, the framerate of a game does not only determine how fluid we see motions, but also how responsive and pleasant it is to our input. Playing with low framerates is akin to cooking with oven gloves on your hands all the time. I forgot about this one because I haven't played a choppy game in a...
