Maia Alpha Milestone Progress 0.25

Milestone 0.2 slipped in places, and went far ahead in others so this milestone is carrying over some of that work.

This list is a distillation of my game design docs, broken down into something a bit more readable to illustrate what we are working on for the coming few weeks.

Adding stars by every post for our colour blind followers!

Blue* = To do (but may be dropped for this milestone)
Red** = To do
Yellow*** = In progress
Green**** = Done
White***** = Polished/Final

Low level/Engine:
  • Cube mapped environmental reflection****
    Screen shot key bound****

    Support for 4k rendering****

    Character blended animation system***
    World generation core variables, interior and exterior****

  • Front menu of game and loading screens***

    Day Night cycle on GPU****

    Airlock implementation linked to atmosphere.**
    Lighting system linked to atmosphere to show breaches.**
    Imp bots path find around each other, avoiding collision.***

    Greater environment variation, second pass shaders and assets***

    Digging will generate minerals (generic building material)****
    Digging will generate rare minerals (material used for advanced things like computers and robots)***
    Mining will uncover buried fossils**
    Imps will take fossils to research room*

    Power generation/storage levels effects lights output****

    Core sentient AI impulses for food, air, water and warmth.***
    Colonists build placed items in workshop and deposit them to their locations.*
    Colonists will wear the space suit outside the colony.****

    Solar stills that collect and purify water. Producing water barrels.****
    Imps will take water barrels to storage room*
    Exterior wind turbines that generate electrical power based off local wind speeds.***
    Solar collectors that generate energy from light.***

    Super capacitor battery systems that store surplus energy and supply it when required.****

    Hydroponic plants that create food based on light.***

    Fission reactor item for reactor room****

    Animation rig for spacesuit****
    New animation rigs for generic male colonist**

Can't wait for the playable Alpha!

I see you're currently working on the main theme of Maia, I hope there will be good music in this game, I love games with great music. I don't know if it has been said before, but do we already know who's composing it?

It's certainly coming along! This is awesome. :D I kind of wish that I had managed to grab the Kickstarter instead of IndieGoGo, since it's so much easier to follow updates on KS, but hey.

I really can't wait for this game. This is like my most anticipated game of 2013.

Pshaw. No need to apologize. You are making a game! Also, the recent update on your Kickstarter is pretty sweet. The shadow renders and light bloom is awesome. I think the planet looks best in the mid-afternoon in that sample (about 1:37 in the video). The sounds seem lonely and desolate, just like an off-world colony would be!

Wow, I completely missed the music! (watched the video without sound the first time)
