Super capacitor energy storage WIP
Super capacitor energy storage WIP
Super capacitors are used as batteries in game to store power and later release it when needed. They are key to maintaining a stable colony as solar, and wind power are variable and nuclear reactors can break down.
The lights on the front show the current energy storage. (One less thing needed on the games GUI!) Textures are doing something a bit odd atm. Still a work in progress.

Nice, and not at all phallic
You're currently using glowsticks to light up the environment, are there plans for things like the lights on these to illuminate the area around them? I'm imagining unmanned rooms (so darkened) filled with lots of little blinky lights flashing everywhere while machines sit there and do their thing

Yeah, I'm going to work more things like that in over time.Harrod200 wrote:Nice, and not at all phallic

Looking great, now where's that alpha build
Re: Super capacitor energy storage WIP
That's lovely looking.
I really love the bulky Space 1999 looking computer consoles and overall retro-future aesthetic.

Looks great - I like that you're making the game world itself the UI

Re: Super capacitor energy storage WIP
Added lights to the front panels, so now they light their environment a little.
We also upped the resolution on the diffuse textures as they were looking a bit mushy.

Simon, another +1 in the quest to keep the UI unclutered. Well done & the Caps look great.
Are these Caps going to suffer from any sort of 'dielectric leakage' and slowly drain even when they are in a standby state?

Potentially. I'll have to see how it affects gameplay, at the moment they will drain rather fast anyway. They wont hold much energy compared to the amount things in your base use.Mark wrote:Simon, another +1 in the quest to keep the UI unclutered. Well done & the Caps look great.
