Mini update: Exterior rendering.

Post by SimoRoth » Wed Aug 01, 2012 10:16 pm

Setting up some assets for the exterior rendering tonight.

Need to model some rock faces for outside areas, but the interior ones will do for now.

The grass grows and spreads in the sunlight. :)

Hoping to eventually get it as hostile looking as the concepts.

At some point I will put together a day/night cycle.

This might seem silly, but I'm actually very excited about this. In fact, about anything in the environment that just develops organically, that does its own thing when left to its own devices.

Now just think of that grass as a food source or habitat for something else, which also responds to that growth and that spread...

Yeah I'll need something to keep it in check at any rate, otherwise it will fill the whole surface and murder the frame rate.

My design docs have a plan for a more invasive plant that will grow towards lights and damage your equipment. No idea what that will be at the moment. Probably a red weed. :D

The deterrent is already in the game, it's called Magma. Just flood the world. It's the only sensible thing to do.

Magma will be the answer to everything, although how to contain it will be an issue... I suspect that it will eventually melt through door/airlocks etc, and so you will have to release it every so often, with will have the side effect of actually flooding an area with magma...

I foresee FUN!
