Windows Engine Test 2: The Bloodening

Post by SimoRoth » Mon Apr 08, 2013 3:20 pm

Thanks for the bug reports from the last build. Here's a new one, I'm specifically interested in how it runs for ATI, Sli and Crossfire users.

This is a cut down debug build of the engine for stress testing, It's not the full game, just large chunk of the simulation and engine code. Imps and colonists are removed. Let me know if it runs on your machine.

Tests

Does the window load?
Does the spinning globe appear?
Does it registers input? (mouse clicks)

If once you click, it gets into game. You can use:

wsad = movement.
mousewheel = zoom
alt + mouse mouse = rotate camera

Debug Controls:

j = Place rooms
h = Info mode. Click-place digging markers (on rock) / read info tips (on mouseover of objects)
k = Debug click-place objects (use v-b to scroll all objects ctrl for snap-to-grid )
u = Debug instabuild objects (gets rid of green hologram effect) .

l = regenerate world. (bugged: creates a small memory leak and will eventually crash the game)

Escape = Exit

-/+ Keypad = Modify game time speed ().

Once the game is running

Do the colours look right? Is the gamma OK?
Are there any obvious immediate glitches?
Does it chug? Hows the framerate? (Framerate is locked so don't be too depressed if its stuck low)
Is there sound.

Please post your system specs along with any problems you have.

Resources: Taken down: Bug fix in progress.

You will also need the VS Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download ... px?id=5555

You can edit the config.xml to change resolution and enable fullscreen.

Please no live streaming this build. Its just so we can catch any problem configurations before releasing the alpha into the wild.

It seems to open this time! I get the globe and click to continue, but after that it's just showing black, apart from whatever I'm mousing over. alt-f4 and right clicking on the taskbar icon also doesn't close it, which are generally my first two ports of call, before hitting esc but that's minor and pedantic :p. I am getting 100fps though!

DXDiag- This is my good comp, i5 and ATI Radeon 5770 graphics card.

Edit: I do have sound.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit

AMD FX-4100 processor

ATI Radeon HD 7800 Series

8GB RAM

The window loads, I see the globe, and I have sound. When I click, the globe disappears, and my screen is pitch black. Moving the mouse around causes the IMP tooltip to appear, but I can't see anything else on the screen. I'm getting 50-60 fps!

Interesting. I actually had this earlier when I set up the new sound code. Can you copy-paste the terminal output?

Great. Thanks!

A new binary is up. Might fix the black screen bugs.

Doesn't seem to, but it does make the globe go a funny colour.

Looks like your driver is trying to use older OpenGL. I've added some code to the latest build to try and override that.

Another new build is up!
