IMP second pass modelling

Post by SimoRoth » Tue Oct 02, 2012 11:44 pm

The IMP used in screens etc so far was temporary for prototyping. Its about time we had a quality model to get properly animated and so people stop thinking they are aliens.

Here is the concept:

Quick start on the model:

Tweaking it to be less scary and a little cuter.

Will it have an antenna or any antennae on its head? Antenna = cute, after all!
I'm good at whatever I apply myself to, I'm just not good at applying myself.

Personally, I think if you're going for cuter rather than scary, I'd go for a slightly larger head.

He kind of looks like how I pictured Marvin when reading hitchhikers, which in my book is a good thing.

Excellent. Because that's exactly what we are going for. :)

in that case, ingame when ever I give him an order can we have a load of melancholy audio responses, that's if your having audio feedback of course :P

"Here I am, brain the size of a planet, and they tell me to take you up to the bridge. Call that job satisfaction? Cause I don't."

"I think you ought to know I'm feeling very depressed."

"You think you've got problems. What are you supposed to do if you are a manically depressed robot?"
I'll get my coat...

This is the progress made on the original impbot. I thought I'd post it here for prosperity.

the bottom right is pretty much what you see in the screenshots so far, and is the oldest of all the stuff, the rest are a mixture of high poly models and baked normals, the eye is the most recent addition, and had controls for the eye apeture opening and closing and rotation etc.

so yeah, thought people would like to see what happens a little behind the scenes.
